Panchkarma
Panchkarma is a famous Ayurveda therapy used to eliminate toxins elements from the body. The therapy is performed after a set of preparatory steps which is called Proovakarma. 1- Vamana – Vamana is the first procedure in which a person is made to vomit with the help of Ayurvedic herb and drugs such as Madanphala, Liquorice, Vacha, etc which cleanses the cough from the upper part of the body. It is used in cough related diseases, bodily disorders and heart diseases. Vamana karma should not be applied to children, old people and women in pregnancy.
2- Virechana – This therapy is used to clean excessive Pitta elements from the body. It concentrates on eliminating toxin from liver, gall bladder and gastro- intestinal tract. Virechana is a three-day long treatment conducted after Vamana Karma. A number of laxative herbs are used in this karma. It treats skins problems, piles, tumor, worms, jaundice and constipation.
3- Basti – It is the most important procedure of Panchkarma as it eliminates the Vatta imbalance diseases such as Abdomen tumors, Spleen diseases, chronic fever, etc. It removes vata doshas from the body. In this procedure, herbal oils and other Ayurvedic herbs are inserted in a person through the rectum. There are many types of Basti Karma like Aasthapan, Nirhua Basti.
4- Nasya – Nose is considered as a gateway to head, eyes and ears so this treatment is used for hair problems, head and eyes diseases. It also slows down the ageing process. In this treatment, herbal oils and liquid medicine is put into the nostril. A regular use of this treatment keeps sense organ healthy and stops untimely graying of hair.
5- Raktamokshana – The literal meaning of Raktamokshana is to let out blood. It is a blood purification process in which blood polluted with doshas is removed from body. It is advised in skin diseases such as sciatica, tonsillitis, eczema, etc. Leech is used in this therapy.
